Planned Major Lane Closure Update for Weekend of August 16, 2024  - MDOT SHA (2024)

• On-ramp from Oceanic Drive (Exit 32) to eastbound US 50/US 301 (John Hanson Highway) approaching the Chesapeake Bay Bridge - Broadneck Peninsula Summer 2024 Ramp Management Project – This ramp will be closed 10 a.m. Fridays to 6 p.m. Saturdays. • MD 178 from Crownsville Road to I-97 - Roadway Resurfacing - 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sunday - Thursday nights, starting Sunday night, August 18. Drivers should be prepared for lane shifts and flagging operations at driveway entrances. Traffic alert available here.
  

• MD 140 (Baltimore Boulevard) between MD 91 (Emory Road) and south of Old Westminster Pike – Guardrail installation – Expect both lanes to be closed overnight, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays. Learn more here.

• US 50 westbound on-ramps from MD 8 (Exit 37) and Duke St. (Exit 38A), and off-ramp to Duke St. – New dates for Queen Anne’s County Beach to Bridge traffic management plan. Ramp closure hours will be 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturdays, Sundays and Monday holidays through September 2. Learn more here​.

• MD 140 (Reisterstown Rd.) between Pleasant Hill Rd. and Stocksdale Ave. – County Waterline Replacement and State Highway Improvements - Daytime single-lane closures and traffic shifts 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. weekdays and if needed, overnight single lane closures 9 p.m. - 5 a.m. Sunday – Thursday, through fall 2024. • August 2024 Special Note: There will be an overnight single travel lane closure and right turn lane closure scheduled for northbound MD 140 in the vicinity of Summer Woods Way, 9 p.m. Friday, August 23 – 7 a.m. Saturday, August 24 for work on the new water line connections. Rain date is 9 p.m. Saturday, August 24 – 7 a.m. Sunday, August 25.
• I-95/I-695 Southwest Interchange – 10 Bridges Rehabilitation - Expect the following overnight single, double and triple lane closures, and overnight interchange ramp closures/detours between Sunday, August 18 and Thursday, August 22:

• I-695 Inner loop from US 40 to MD 140 (daytime single lane)
• I-695 Outer loop from Charles St to US 40 (daytime single lane)

• MD 144 from Howard County Line/Oella Avenue to MD 166 (South Rolling Road) – Highway maintenance paving work on three segments of MD 144 through mid-fall 2024. Motorists can expect overnight lane closures with flagging operations along these sections of MD 144 , 9 p.m.– 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday. • MD 7 from west of King Ave. to Campbell Blvd. – Highway Maintenance Resurfacing -Overnight lane closures with flagging operations 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through late fall. Traffic alert available here.
• MD 128 (Butler Road) bridge over CSXT Railroad in Glyndon - Bridge rehabilitation – Daytime lane closures with flagging operations 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday – Friday through mid-August.
• MD 139 (Charles Street) City/County line to MD 134 (Bellona Ave.) - Waterline replacement and roadway improvements. Single lane closures northbound and southbound (with aux/turn lane closures where needed at intersections). Daytime 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday – Friday and overnight 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Sunday – Thursday, through fall 2026.

Single lane closures northbound and southbound Daytime 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday – Friday and overnight single lane closures 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. with double lane closures (with aux/turn lane closures where needed at intersections). 10 p.m. - 5 a.m. Sunday – Thursday, through fall 2026.
• MD 542 (Loch Raven Blvd.) at Loch Hill Road – Drainage Pipe Replacement – 24/7 right lane and sidewalk closure on northbound MD 542 in vicinity of Loch Hill Road intersection through late summer. Traffic alert available here.
• MD 702 between Middleborough Road and Back River Neck Road, including the roundabout at Hyde Park Road. – Highway maintenance resurfacing – daytime lane closures for paving work on the mainline of MD 702 with flagging operations on weekdays, with overnight roundabout work with detours overnights. • MD 91 (Emory Rd) bridge over a branch of the Patapsco River and Maryland Midland Railroad – Bridge replacement project – Closure in place for approximately nine months. Detour uses MD 140 and MD 30.
• MD 140 (Baltimore Blvd) between Sandymount Rd and Bethel Rd - Highway maintenance - Single-lane closure during overnight work from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. The work will be completed this month.

• MD 272 southbound between Russell Street and Irishtown Road and MD 272 northbound between MD 7 (Cecil Avenue) to the bridge over Amtrak – Milling and Patching – Crews are working overnight, 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays. Traffic alert available here.

• MD 17 (Wolfsville Rd) between Main Street and US 40 - Highway maintenance - Road closure during overnight hours from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. Detour uses Church Hill Road. ​

• MD 23 (Norrisville Road) between MD 136 (Harkins Road) and MD 439 (Old York Road) – Highway maintenance pavement patching – Daytime lane closures with flagging operations along sections of MD 23 south of Norrisville 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday – Friday through early fall. • MD 24 (Rocks Road) between south of Sharon Road and north of Ferncliff Lane – Slope Rehabilitation of MD 24 along Deer Creek – 24/7 Closure and Detour of segment of MD 24 by Deer Creek until late fall 2024. Project info and detour map available here and location available here.
• MD 24 (Vietnam Veterans Memorial Hwy.) at Singer Road - Drainage Pipe replacements at intersection – Temporary 24/7 closure/detour of the right-turn movement from northbound MD 24 to eastbound Singer Road. Traffic alert available here.
  
• US 40 (Pulaski Highway) between the Baltimore/Harford County line (Little Gunpowder Falls) and MD 152 (Mountain Road/Magnolia Road) - Primary Highway Paving – Daytime single lane closures 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday- Friday through late summer. Alert is available here.

• MD 165 (Federal Hill Road) from MD 23 (Norrisville/Jarrettsville Road) to the Jarrettsville Volunteer Fire Company driveway – Highway maintenance resurfacing - Overnight lane closures with flagging operations 8 p.m. – 5 a.m., Sunday through Thursday, through summer 2024.

• US 1 (Washington Blvd) and MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) interchange - Ramp maintenance - Ramp closures during overnight work hours of 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The project is expected to be complete by September.
• MD 103 (Montgomery Rd) between MD 104 (Waterloo Rd) and MD 100 – Roadway maintenance – Single-lane closure with flagging 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. The project is expected to be complete by September.

• MD 586 (Veirs Mill Road) between Newport Mill Rd and MD 28 (First Street) – Resurfacing – Single-lane closures and lane shifts overnight, Sundays through Thursdays, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic alert available here.
  

• MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) NB Ramp at Ritchie Marlboro Road - Maintenance inlet repair work - Ramp closure with detour to MD 223 exit - Daily ramp closure, weekdays, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., through mid-August 2024. Traffic alert available here.
• I-95 (Southbound Only) from MD 214 (Central Avenue) to MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) – Highway Resurfacing – Double and triple-lane closures overnight, Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., through summer 2024. Traffic alert is available here.
• I-95 at MD 295 (Baltimore Washington Parkway) – Ramp resurfacing – Ramp closures will require overnight detours, Sundays through Thursdays, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., through summer 2024. Traffic alert is available here.

• MD 5 between Camp Brown Road and MD 235 – Roadway Resurfacing – Daytime flagging operation between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m., weekdays through mid-August.

• I-68 at Creek Road – Bridge replacement work – Single right lane closures eastbound and westbound will be continuous throughout the duration of the project. For additional information, the traffic alert is available here.
• MD 68 (Lappans Road) between MD 65 (Sharpsburg Pike) and MD 632 (Downsville Pike) - Pavement improvement – Expect a flagging operation weekdays, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., through the end of the month.

• US 13 Business over Wicomico River ​– Bridge replacement work – northbound lane closures while temporary traffic shift is implemented.
